Sustainable Harvesting
At Heinrich Cooperage, we're deeply committed to the future of our forests. We believe that keeping American oak forests thriving today ensures their strength for generations to come.
Our log buyers team up with Certified Master Loggers who champion sustainable practices—like carefully selecting mature trees to harvest, opening the canopy to let sunlight nurture the young saplings below, helping forests flourish naturally.
We're proud supporters of organizations like American Forests and the White Oak Initiative, and with Certified Foresters and dedicated sustainability experts on our team, we ensure sustainability is woven into every step of our cooperage process.
Sustainable Production
Realizing that sustainable harvesting is just one chapter in our journey, we carry that same commitment to sustainability into every step of our production process.
We receive finished staves directly from our own mill, which not only ensures consistent quality but also minimizes the environmental impact of transporting raw materials.
In 2023, we took a bold step towards energy independence by installing solar panels across our cooperage. Today, we’re proud to say we generate more electricity than we use, feeding surplus power back into the grid. This renewable energy initiative has significantly reduced our reliance on non-renewable resources, further shrinking our carbon footprint.
Our commitment doesn’t stop there. We’ve invested in two electric forklifts, reducing our greenhouse gas emissions on the production floor. Additionally, we shut down high-energy equipment during breaks, a simple but effective way to conserve energy throughout the day.
These efforts allow us to operate in a more eco-conscious way, keeping both our craftsmanship and our environmental responsibility at the forefront of what we do.
